"Get Off The Beaten Track", "Ladybird" - Landscape and Seascape workshops

The best place to learn photography is on location. Family run APT outdoor photo workshop locations are the result of many years of bush walking along the New South Wales East Coast from the Blue Mountains to the sea.
We offer a smorgasbord of stunning locations for our instruction catering for the budget conscious locals and tourists.

Join us at easily accessed rock platforms, beaches, cliffs and rainforest locations for stunning views "Off The Beaten Track"
  1. Our coastal tours visit locations within 2 hours drive of Sydney on Australia's rugged South Pacific coastline with its magnificent beaches, rock platforms and cliffs.
  2. Evening and early morning workshops are available to take advantage of the superb Australian sunrise and sunsets at first and last light - see best tour photograph and Evening and morning workshops
  3. Our three hour day time landscape workshops allow parents to take advantage of a time frame when the kids are at school - Parents workshops

Trees To Sea

A "Trees to Sea" tour will take you from rain forest to the sea then onward to rock platforms and headlands bordering the Tasman Sea and South Pacific Ocean, see the vista change by the minute.

Tours in National Parks and State Forests of the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Sydney Basin and Illawarra offer rainforest, bush, quaint towns and beautiful country views.

The rainforests of the east coast are cooler than the surrounding bush throughout the day although humidity is high. The summer months when temperatures are high is the perfect time for photography throughout the day in the rainforest.

Australian animals are mainly nocturnal. Eastern Gray Kangaroo's, Wallabies, Echidna's, Parrot's and Cockatoo's along with many of South Eastern Australia's smaller species of bird may be seen throughout the day at some locations. A telephoto lens is an asset which allows you to take advantage of any sightings.

Workshop / Class timings

Classes are held at easily accessed locations in the early hours of the morning from first light to sunrise and sunset to last light. Often one encounters mist and frost in winter time, a combination which creates moody surreal views as the rising sun warms the frosty ground, perfect for our classes.

Custom Tours

  • Custom tours are available for individuals and small groups wishing to visit more specific locations or require early start times, contact Ken for additional information: call +61 2 4628 2528 / 02 4628 2528 or email.
  • Early morning at locations by the sea for those incredible Australian sunrises and sunsets.

"One on one" custom tours are located outdoor in the rainforests of the Royal National Park, Greater Blue Mountains National Park and Budderoo NP in the Kiama Region of NSW. These workshops may involve a short walk of 3 - 4 kilometers along recognised trails or walkways.

With luck in May, June and July one can walk alongside the Great Whales as they continue their migration north to Hervey Bay from Antarctica. The Southern Right and Humpback whales can be observed playing along our coastline as they journey north to mate in warmer waters.

Throughout the year one may also see White Bellied Sea Eagle pairs hunting for food in coastal areas. Occasionally we see the smaller birds of prey harassing the eagles in an attempt to get them to drop their catch.
