Seasons in the Southern Highlands

Summer time is mild and colourful.

Winter time in the Southern Highlands is glorious. We have swirling mist and warming open fires to make your hands and toes happy.

You may see mist and hear the crunch of frost under your boots, it's crisp, fresh and great to be alive. We make our way slowly back to Berrima town to photograph heritage buildings. Then time for a hot chocolate or coffee and choose from a range of piping hot pies and pastries which you can buy from an award winning bakery.

Autumn is a combination of these and has glorious trees dressed in the lovely golden colours of the season. Anytime is a great time to visit and there is so much to do and see in the area.

With luck you will see Kangaroos coming to the river to drink at first light.

Heritage buildings from from the region

Colonial buildings can be found on our tours of Berrima, the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains

Some of our tours stop for morning tea or lunch at restaurants converted from early banks or historic inns which are some of the oldest constantly operating pubs in Australia.

The Surveyor General Inn at Berrima is one such location.

This is also a superb winter workshop with sightseeing and photography on the Wingecarribee river.
